Worms have long been valued in agriculture for their ability to:

• break down nutrients,
• improve soil structure and porosity, and
• for the microbes they excrete to colonise the roots and aid in nutrient uptake. 

Intensive farming damages soil structure and soil biology, holding back the farm’s productivity and wasting inputs.  We see our role as turning that around, for the benefit of the farmer and the environment in general.

Whilst we have had good anecdotal evidence of the power of vermicast  sprays on pasture, our focus has until recently been in horticulture.  In 2008 we began working on pasture in earnest, developing a new product and undertaking field trials in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.  This work is ongoing.

The new product is Wormtech Pasture and the recommended application programme is two applications of 40l/ha, in spring and autumn.

Given the lack of statistically valid proof of the benefits to farmers, we are offering a financial incentive to those prepared to undertake a trial on their property.  We are looking for trials now over a wide area on different soil types and under different farm management regimes.  Give us a call for more information.
